Making Gold on WoW: Vendors or The Auction House?
Whatâs the fastest way to make gold on WoW, vendors or the Auction House (AH)? Most of the gold youll make as a new player will come from either vendors or the AH. How does a player decide which one to pick? The answer is: how fast do you need the gold, how close are you to an AH and whats the items value? Thats really all it boils down to.
Only the major cities in the Eastern Kingdoms and Kalimdor have an AH. Vendors are everywhere. Theyre in towns, cities, tiny encampments, outposts and even alone under a tree or behind a rock far from the beaten path. when your bags are full of junk far from a city, these guys come in handy.
Your bags have more room for those prized items in your next quest and your wallet fattens up.
One of the tips on the loading page is that a grey item is of little value so sell it to a vendor. Thats not really true. Lots of grey items are components for potions or spells. You have to learn which ones they are so you get silver or gold from the AH, not meager coppers from a vendor. Weapons, armor or other non-biological items that are grey should be sold to a vendor. The tricky part in getting gold for grey items is knowing which body parts, plants and scraps have value to other players at the AH.
Browsing the items at the AH shows what has current value among players. Check for the going rate. Any white, green, blue or purple item will bring you more cash from the AH than from a vendor. Unlike an immediate vendor sale, you can spend hours at the AH browsing, buying and selling.
Making gold on WoW by selling your items to a vendor or the AH is a matter of convenience, time and location. Selling to a vendor is immediate but the AH has the best stuff to buy and the better gold for your sales.
